Pri Med was established in 1982 by Dr. Paul K. Tanaka in partnership with Baptist Health in Montgomery, Alabama. When it was initially opened, Pri Med was a new and innovative approach to medical care in the Montgomery area.  The Pri Med concept and patient focused care enabled the practice to successfully meet the need of area residents. Pri Med has kept pace with growth in the tri-county area over the years and there are now five different locations. 

In order to continue offering the best possible healthcare to central Alabama, Dr. Tanaka and three other well known and well respected local physicians proposed an independent practice that would be separate from Baptist Health system.  As of October 2005 Pri Med became known as Pri Med Physicians, Inc. (PPI) and is owned and operated by Dr. Paul Tanaka, Dr. Chandler Muller, Dr. Chai Chamnong, and Dr. Donald Brobst.

Pri Med Physicians, Inc. continues to operate with the same principles that helped them become the leading providers for Family and Urgent Care Medicine. Pri Med Physicians is still leading the way in making it convenient to have access to unrivaled healthcare.
